Anzhelika Rudnitska about Olya Polyakova: When she sang for the Russians, my uncle died.
According to ТСН: The performer from 'Territory A' Anzhelika Rudnitska openly spoke about her attitude towards Olya Polyakova and explained why she does not feel a connection to her creativity.
Dislike for Olya Polyakova
Anzhelika recalled their joint beginnings at 'Territory A' and revealed how her attitude towards Polyakova has changed. According to the performer, she currently does not follow the singer's activities and has never been interested in her career. Rudnitska emphasized that Polyakova's public image is alien to her.
“I am not interested in her at all. It's so not my thing that I can't even comment. Back in the days of 'Territory A', we tried to give everyone a chance to show themselves. Back then, she was a modest girl who really wanted to sing. That was a different Polyakova. She does not appear in my informational field, and I have no desire to intentionally track her. This is simply not my music format and not my sphere of interest,” Rudnitska admitted in an interview.
Polyakova's statements about 'Eurovision'
Anzhelika also touched on the topic of Polyakova's statements regarding 'Eurovision', in particular her threats of legal action and requests to allow participation in the national selection for artists who, although they performed for the Russian Federation after 2014, have changed their positions. Rudnitska noted that this topic personally affected her, as she recalled Polyakova's past performances for the Russians when her relative was killed in 2014 near Luhansk.
“Her statement that she is eager to go to 'Eurovision', but she is not allowed — it was funny. Because once again everyone owes her something. Excuse me, at the time when she was jumping in a kokoshnik in front of the Russians, my uncle died on the front line — he was only 46 years old. Why should I forget this? Why should I pretend that it did not happen?” the performer emphasized.
Attitude towards Polyakova's changes
Rudnitska wants to believe in possible changes in Polyakova, but emphasizes that some people change their positions only for profit. She also expressed thoughts about Ukrainian artists living abroad but continuing to earn in Ukraine.
“Has she really changed? I want to believe that people can realize what a country is and draw conclusions. But I often see otherwise: many who simply use Ukraine to promote their ideas and their business. Even those who live abroad but regularly come here to earn because their creativity is not really needed there. The Hardkiss, for example. Would I want to lose Yulia Sanina as a Ukrainian artist? No. She is great, bright, and original. But the fact remains the fact: the collective is abroad. Remember how Potap also tried to return to make money. He was told that no one was waiting for him here — and he disappeared,” added the star of 'Territory A'.
Anzhelika Rudnitska's words raise important questions about the moral aspects of artists' participation, who worked with Russian stars, in Ukrainian cultural events. Her statements emphasize the sensitivity of the topic in the current reality, where cultural, identity, and political issues intertwine in every statement about art and its perception. This dialogue may be an important step towards rethinking the relationships of Ukrainian artists and their creativity in the context of war and national identity.
