Prices for rooms in Turkish hotels increased by 49.18% in January 2025 compared to January 2024, which is higher than the inflation rate of 42.12% for the same period, reports Turizm Guncel, citing data from TÜİK.

«Prices in restaurants and hotels in Turkey increased by 6.5% since December 2024 and by 49% compared to January last year», the article states.

Tour operators predict an increase in accommodation prices in summer by an average of 10-15% compared to last year.

However, factors such as the exchange rate of the Turkish lira, rising inflation, and increasing food prices may affect the realization of these forecasts. According to the statistics institute, food prices increased by 41.76% over the year.

Expected price increase for hotels in summer

Annual price indexing in the tourist sector usually ranges from 10 to 15%. Popular mid-range and luxury hotels that do not have problems with insufficient tourists may increase prices by 5% in the low season and by 30-40% during peak periods, such as during the May holiday and the first half of August. On average, a price increase of hotels by 7-15% is expected in summer 2025.

Unlike previous years, Turkish hoteliers hope that the lira will start to strengthen this year, and the economy will grow. They believe this will allow for a decrease in the rate of price increases for rooms from late February or early March. The faster the lira strengthens, the less prices will increase in currency.

It should be noted that 17% of all hotels in Turkey plan to close. This mainly concerns the city of Istanbul, but popular resorts will also be affected.
