Pensioners can travel abroad in 2025: who is entitled and how to receive a pension in advance.
As a result of the martial law and mobilization in Ukraine, men of certain age categories are prohibited from freely leaving the country. Can male pensioners travel abroad in August 2025, the editorial office of Novyny.LIVE explains.
The Truskavets City Council reminded that the restrictions on departure for men are provided by the President's Decree No. 64/2022 and the Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 57. However, these restrictions do not apply to those who have already reached retirement age (60 years). Men under the age of 18 or who have already turned 60 years old can travel abroad, as well as those who have been removed from military accounting due to health reasons and who do not have convictions for serious crimes. Therefore, male pensioners can cross the border without hindrance. There are no such restrictions for women at all.
Who can receive a pension in advance when traveling abroad
At the same time, it is important to consider that a long stay abroad may affect the receipt of pension payments. 'Diia' states that a pensioner who has decided to move permanently to another country has the right to receive their pension in advance for 6 months. To do this, one must submit:
- a statement;
- a foreign passport with the mark of permanent residence or a foreigner's document;
- a certificate or other document on deregistration from residence in Ukraine (if there is no data or there are discrepancies in the community register).
The payment is made from the month following the removal from the accounting and covers a half-year period.
Male pensioners who have reached retirement age have the right to travel abroad, regardless of the introduction of martial law. Additionally, pensioners who intend to settle outside the country can receive their pension in advance for 6 months if they present the necessary documents.Read also
