Renowned Ukrainian artist Artem Kovbasynsky and former Irish soldier Robert Digen died in the course of the war in Ukraine. According to experts, the likelihood of death on the front lines is increasing daily due to the indecisiveness of Western allies.

Robert Digen was killed on September 19 in the Kupiansk area near Kharkiv. He had withdrawn comrades of the "Stugna" unit and was shot during close combat. His body has not been found to date.

A member of Ukraine's foreign legion, Robert Digen joined in 2022 after the start of the Russian invasion. He actively participated in combat operations on the front lines, defending territories temporarily occupied by the Russians.

According to reports, in October 2022, Robert was seriously injured and lost an eye during an attack on an armored personnel carrier. However, after recovering, he returned to the front this year.

According to media reports, Robert Digen's death was the fifth among Irish people who lost their lives in Ukraine. While the governments of the United States and Europe discuss sending necessary equipment to Ukraine, people continue to die, the material notes.

Defense analyst Declan Power warns that indecisiveness leads to casualties: "Robert Digen died trying to protect his comrades during their retreat. In other cases, they would have had air or artillery support to cover their retreat. Ukraine needs more equipment and support to prevent such deaths as Digen's", he said.

Martin Mihol, former Prime Minister of Ireland, stated that people without military training should not go to war in Ukraine. It is noted that more than half of the infantrymen are wounded or killed within a few days of arriving at the front.
