Military registration for women: what will change with the new law.

The bill on military service for women has been approved by the Verkhovna Rada
On December 3, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved the draft law of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 12076, which provides for changes to the Law 'On Military Duty and Military Service'.
According to this draft law, women who wish to receive military training will be listed among the conscripts before the start of service if they meet the health and age criteria.
After undergoing basic training, they will be included among those with military obligations. In addition, mandatory medical examinations for women are proposed before practical classes.
The draft law also establishes a new type of military service - basic general military training, which will become mandatory from 2025 for men with appropriate health. Universities will conduct this training for students, and training centers of the Armed Forces will conduct it for persons planning to serve in government bodies.
Changes have also been made to the law, stipulating that men up to 60 years old who do not have basic training or military service will not be able to hold positions in local governments, the prosecutor's office, or civil service. This rule will come into effect from the moment the martial law is lifted, but not earlier than one year after the start of the basic training program.
Basic general military training will begin on September 1, 2025, in accordance with Article 10-1 of the Law 'On Military Duty and Military Service'.
