Military Compensation in Ukraine: What to Expect

According to Novyny.live: Starting in June 2026, Ukrainian servicemen and women will see updated salary scales, with the minimum guaranteed monthly pay set at 20,130.05 Ukrainian hryvnias. The exact amount each soldier receives will depend on factors like years of service and military rank, with additional allowances pushing top earnings significantly higher. These changes come amid ongoing efforts to strengthen support for the armed forces during the country's prolonged conflict.

Guaranteed Minimums and Combat Bonuses

All military personnel are assured a baseline monthly income of at least 20,130.05 UAH, with June payments reflecting service rendered in May. Those directly involved in combat operations will receive an extra 100,000 UAH per month. For troops serving in command or staff roles, a supplementary payment of 50,000 UAH is provided. Members of the State Emergency Service, the State Criminal Enforcement Service, and police officers are entitled to 30,000 UAH in additional compensation.

Furthermore, soldiers stationed on front-line positions can qualify for a cumulative reward of 70,000 UAH for every 30 days of duty. The minimum base salary is projected to rise to 30,000 UAH. These adjustments are governed by Ukrainian legislation, including the law 'On Social and Legal Protection of Servicemen and Their Families,' Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 704 'On Monetary Support for Servicemen,' and Ministry of Defense Order No. 260 dated June 7, 2018.

In summary, the revamped pay structure aims to improve the financial well-being of military personnel and their families, serving as a key element of social protection amid ongoing challenges. These measures are expected to boost troop morale and motivation, particularly for those enduring extended deployments and active combat duty.
