Ukrainians Abroad Eligible for Military Age Can Now Obtain Passports Without Military Registration.
New Options for Military-Age Citizens Abroad
According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian men of military age who are currently abroad can now apply for and receive a Ukrainian passport without presenting an up-to-date military registration document. This significant policy change simplifies the passport application process for this specific group of citizens.
Under the new rules, individuals subject to military service can apply for a passport at a Ukrainian consulate or at the state-owned enterprise 'Document'. Lawyer Vyacheslav Kyryda emphasized that a current military registration document is no longer a mandatory requirement for this procedure.
"You can obtain a new passport because the rules have been substantially simplified," stated Vyacheslav Kyryda.
The Passport Application Process
For those planning to apply, it is important to know you must contact one of the following:
- A Ukrainian consulate in your country of residence;
- or the state enterprise 'Document'.
"If your data is already registered in the 'Diia' app, you can confidently apply for a Ukrainian citizen's passport through the 'Document' enterprise," Kyryda added.
These changes are expected to significantly ease the document acquisition process for Ukrainians living outside the country. This reform is particularly crucial for citizens who find themselves abroad, as it streamlines access to essential identification. The simplification of passport procedures can help protect their rights and facilitate potential return or mobility, especially for those displaced by the ongoing conflict. This measure may also reduce the administrative burden on consular services, allowing them to focus on other pressing wartime issues.
