What does automatic removal of registration mean

Automatic removal from the place of residence registration does not mean that the state will suddenly remove you from the register without warning. This is conditionally an automatic process that occurs without your direct participation, but according to official procedures.

In August 2025, such cases may concern Ukrainians who have not lived at their registered address for an extended period, have gone abroad, or have not fulfilled certain legal obligations. Ukrainian legislation clearly regulates these processes to protect citizens' rights, but not everyone knows how it works.

Who is at risk of losing registration

Automatic removal from registration may affect several categories of citizens. Here are the main risk groups.

• Persons who do not live at their registered address. If the property owner submits an application to the Administrative Services Center (ASC), confirming that you no longer reside at the specified address, you may be removed without your consent.
• Conscripts who evade conscription. During the state of war, failing to appear at the recruitment office after conscription may become grounds for annulment of registration.
• Citizens who have gone abroad. If you have established permanent residence abroad, your previous registration in Ukraine is automatically canceled.
• Persons recognized by the court as permanently absent or deceased. A court decision about the loss of the right to use housing or death also leads to removal from registration.

How to find out about the loss of registration

In August 2025, registration authorities are obliged to inform citizens about their removal from registration. Notifications are sent:

1. By mail to the address where you were registered.
2. By email or through the Diia app, if you have a digital profile.
3. Through a court decision, if the case was heard in court.

However, if the notification did not reach you, this does not cancel the consequences. You can find out about the loss of registration only when applying for documents, subsidies, or medical services.
