Justified war crimes of the Russian Federation: law enforcement officers exposed the abbot of a church in the Cherkasy region.

The Security Service recorded the dangerous activities of a cleric of the Cherkasy diocese of the UOC (MP). It concerns the abbot of one of the churches of Korsun-Shevchenkivske deanery, who spread propaganda of the Russian war against Ukraine. This was reported in the press service of the SBU.

According to the investigation, the suspect advised citizens not to participate in the resistance to Russian aggression and to emigrate abroad.

The cleric also sent videos through popular messengers, where he justified the crimes of the occupiers and discredited the Ukrainian military-political leadership. «The suspect tried to change the socio-political situation in the region in favor of the Russian Federation. An examination conducted by the Security Service confirmed the criminal actions of the representative of the UOC (MP). Given the available evidence, he was notified of the suspicion under the articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (justification, recognition as lawful, denial of armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants). The investigation continues. The offender faces up to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property», – the report says.

In total, since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Donbas, eight clerics of the Cherkasy diocese of the UOC (MP) have received suspicions for publicly supporting the aggressor and spreading hostile propaganda.

Earlier, it was reported that the Security Service of Ukraine detained a priest of the UOC MP, who cooperated with the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and prepared a terrorist attack against the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region. 

Recall that the Moscow church in Ukraine continues to promote the interests of the Russian Federation – the new abbot of the Lavra presented evidence. Archimandrite Avraamiy stated that the Moscow church shows indifference to the defenders by its behavior.
