Defense product manufacturing in Ukraine is increasing
The Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine, Herman Smetanin, stated that the production capacity of the Ukrainian defense-industrial complex (DIC) is expected to reach $35 billion this year. He also emphasized that the level of defense product manufacturing is increasing compared to previous years. In 2022, products worth $1 billion were produced, in 2023 - $3 billion, and last year - $9 billion. However, the actual production of defense products by Ukrainian enterprises amounted to about $20 billion.
Advisor to the President of Ukraine, Oleksandr Kamyshin, pointed out that during the Soviet era, Ukrainian DIC enterprises produced 18% of the defense products created within the USSR. This was evaluated at approximately $25 billion in monetary equivalent.
Currently, over 800 enterprises of various ownership forms operate in Ukraine, engaged in the production of arms and military equipment within the defense-industrial sector.
