The Ukrainian national team in sambo won 43 medals at the European Championship.


The Ukrainian national sambo team demonstrated an impressive performance at the European Championship in Limassol (Cyprus). During the competition, our athletes won 43 medals: 5 gold, 16 silver, and 22 bronze. The tournament featured men and women, juniors, and girls, boys and girls, cadets and young cadets.
The Ukrainian team among boys and girls won 12 medals, including 4 silver and 8 bronze medals. The cadet team (14-16 years old) won 13 medals: 1 gold, 6 silver, and 6 bronze. In the team standings, the girls took second place, while the boys received the bronze cup.
Unfortunately, Russian bodybuilders who participated in the competition were unable to obtain Spanish visas necessary for participating in the European Championship. Hopes were expressed that the aggressor country would send two hundred people to the tournament, however, most applications were rejected by the Spanish embassy despite the presence of invitations from the International Bodybuilding Federation and support from the competition organizers and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.
The bodybuilding and fitness competitions will take place from April 30 to May 5. Ukrainian fencers also achieved great success, becoming world champions in fencing with sabers among juniors. Anna Maksimenko, Emily Konrad, Alina Dmytruk, and Valeria Bilous-Hrydzak won victory in the final against the team from China with a score of 45:34.
Ukraine secured a place in the top 5 medal standings of the European Fencing Championship. Our country surpassed countries such as the USA, Italy, Egypt, and Canada, having 1 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze medal.
