Zelensky discussed Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration with the leaders of the UK and NATO.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, met with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, and NATO Secretary General, Mark Rutte, on October 10, 2024, in London. Zelensky reported this on social media.
The main topics of the talks were Euro-Atlantic integration and the military strengthening of Ukraine. The President emphasized that these issues are key to restoring a just peace.
The meeting with Keir Starmer was dedicated to presenting the details of the Victory Plan, particularly aspects of Ukraine's military strengthening. The leaders agreed on joint efforts to develop the plan with allies.
Zelensky expressed gratitude to the United Kingdom for its ongoing defense support, particularly the provision of long-range weapons. He also stressed the necessity of obtaining permission for strikes deep into Russian territory.
"The Victory Plan is intended to end the war on fair terms. It is a bridge to the second Peace Summit. Ukraine can negotiate only from a strong position," stated Volodymyr Zelensky.
The President stressed the importance of Ukraine receiving an invitation to join NATO. Additionally, future defense and financial assistance issues were discussed.
Keir Starmer assured that the United Kingdom will continue to support Ukraine: "It is very important that we can demonstrate our unwavering commitment and support to Ukraine. This is such an important fight for you and for all of us."
Zelensky also reported on the discussion of the rapid implementation of the decisions from the NATO Washington Summit and the alignment of further steps.
