Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that it is necessary to strengthen the Defense Forces with new equipped brigades and reserves while the fighting with the Russians continues. He reported this in an interview with 'Suspilne'.

Zelensky noted that no new brigades had been created over the past year, but reserve units made up of war veterans had been formed. However, sometimes new brigades are formed instead of replenishing the old ones.

The head of state emphasized that some brigades cannot hold certain sections of the front due to the numerical superiority of the enemy. Therefore, he called for reinforcements in these areas with new units.

Zelensky also answered a question about the future of the conflict: 'When we break the enemy, when we move forward - this is not a series, this is a serious story. Right now we are waiting for reserves, new brigades; when they arrive, the offensive will end.'

The president stressed the need to do everything possible to ensure that the war ends next year.

Earlier, Donald Trump, the elected president of the United States, stated the need to end the war between Russia and Ukraine. He noted that his administration would focus on this. Meeting participants expressed condolences for the loss of life in the war and urged an end to the conflict, regardless of who suffers: soldiers or civilians. Trump emphasized that they would be able to handle this.

Polish President Andrzej Duda also stated that newly elected US President Donald Trump would protect Ukraine from Russia as he is responsible for funding assistance to Ukraine from American citizens.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Ukraine is not losing to Russia in the war, but problems arise due to President Biden's restrictions on defensive measures. However, this publication also reported that the conflict could be suspended by halting Russia's occupation of about 20% of Ukrainian territory.

President Zelensky believes that Trump truly wants to end the war, but it is unknown whether this goal can be achieved due to Putin's intent to destroy Ukraine.
