The Third Army Corps reports on reforms: how the army has changed during the fights.
According to ТСН: The year 2026 is set to be a year of sobriety for the Ukrainian army. The discussion of military reform in Ukraine has intensified following the publication of an article highlighting the necessity for changes even during war. The Third Army Corps commenced the new year with the presentation of reforms implemented despite continuous combat operations, forming the basis for a new recruitment campaign.
Foundations of Reforms in the Third Army Corps
The slogan of the campaign 'Made for You' is presented against a bright orange background. The Third Army Corps, formed in the spring of 2025, has already achieved significant success in defending the Donbas, despite active enemy attacks.
“Having taken command of the corps, Biletsky scaled his approaches to forming command and internal processes. I believe he has managed to create one of the most effective and modern corps administrations,” stated Major General Mykhailo Drapaty.
In the brigade structure, management and staff organization have been reviewed, and the position of 'battle captain' has been introduced. The change in approaches to fire support is focused on the use of drones. There is also significant progress in information exchange among the units.
“A huge problem of the Soviet system is the closedness of information — this 'you find out on a need-to-know basis.' Here I believe in McChrystal's 'team of teams': the harm from information being received by the wrong person is orders of magnitude less than the lack of information exchange,” explained Biletsky.
Effectiveness and Innovations
Thanks to established information exchange, it has been possible to reduce chaos on the front and increase defensive effectiveness. The loss ratio in the corps is 1 to 6-8, which is a good indicator.
The Third Corps is also a leader in destroying the enemy with drones, having created an air defense regiment and a company of ground robotic complexes 'NC13'. These robots perform various tasks, including evacuation, ammunition delivery, and conducting sabotage in the enemy's rear.
Medical Support and Training
Significant changes have also occurred in medical support, where military medical commissions have been abolished, and fighters quickly receive solutions without bureaucracy and queues. A clinical blood bank has been established for rapid assistance and a tactical medicine training center for preparing medical personnel.
Continuous training has become a key element for supporting personnel. The corps is working on the training and retraining of servicemen, increasing the number of professional sergeants in the brigades.
Cultural Changes and Morale
Among the most challenging reform tasks is changing the internal culture. Biletsky emphasizes the importance of eradicating Soviet notions, particularly despotism and contempt for soldiers.
“There are people who have ordered the killings of many but have never been there themselves. Regarding dishonest people, we use this mechanism, which positively impacts the personnel — people see justice,” said the corps commander.
The reduction in cases of unauthorized leave in the Third Corps indicates positive changes in attitude towards the army. Many servicemen return, receiving the necessary support and attention.
The 'Made for You' campaign arose from the desire to transparently convey the benefits of the corps to society.
“People are tired of flashy wraps, they want to see results,” explains the creative director of the Trio.
On New Year's Eve, Biletsky called the Third Army Corps a prototype of the future Ukrainian army, where internal culture and respect for servicemen are key.
The reforms implemented by the Third Army Corps are an important step towards modernizing the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Initiatives that promote increased efficiency, cultural changes, and improved service conditions can serve as an example for other army units. In the context of the ongoing war, the importance of such changes becomes even more relevant.
