I realized that I not only had to go, but to go very fast to the shelter, journalist Sotyrychuk on rescue during the missile strike.

The family of journalists Pavlo Vuyts and Nataliya Sotyrychuk arrived in Lviv from Kyiv after experiencing shelling and losing their home. They shared their experience and the support they received from colleagues.

Moving to Lviv

In March 2022, the family moved to Lviv, finding shelter in an apartment offered by acquaintances. They did not know that strategic objects with a high risk were nearby.

At the beginning of the war, they perceived the missile danger as something unpleasant, but very soon the situation changed. During one of the shellings, when an alarm was declared, they heard a shahid and quickly found a shelter in the basement. This incident frightened the couple profoundly, and after two weeks, they found themselves in the middle of a shelling where they had to fight for survival.

Support from Colleagues

After the shelling, the family found themselves without housing and a car, but they were surrounded by friends and colleagues. The editor-in-chief of the publication 'Hlavkom' offered all necessary assistance, and a friend of one of the journalists suggested they live in his apartment in Lviv.

Nataliya felt how her view of the world changed after this experience. She expresses gratitude for the support and understanding they received from those around them. Now they are looking for new housing considering the presence of a shelter and the floor level.

Changed Perception of the World

These events helped Nataliya revive the value of family and stability. She realized the importance of helping and receiving help, as well as changing her view on the journalist profession.

This life challenge fundamentally changed their lives and their perceptions of it.
