Energy carriers will no longer be Russia's weapon of blackmail - EU Commissioner.


The European Union stands against weapons and Russia's blackmail through energy
EU Commissioner for Energy, Dan Jørgensen, stated that the European Union does not plan to import Russian energy carriers either now or in the future. He emphasized that the EU will not allow Russia to use energy as a tool for blackmail or as a weapon.
'Through the 'roadmap' that the European Commission presented last week, we are saying that we will no longer succumb to blackmail from Russia, we will no longer allow energy to be turned into a weapon against us and will no longer indirectly replenish Putin's 'war chest'. That is why we have decided to end the import of Russian energy. This is extremely important for our own security, as well as for our solidarity with Ukraine. This is what is on the agenda'
This position was announced during a meeting of European energy ministers in Warsaw. The Commissioner added that regardless of negotiations for peace in Ukraine, the EU will not import 'a single molecule' of Russian energy carriers in the future.
This decision by the European Union is an important signal to Russia against the use of energy as a tool of political pressure. The refusal to import Russian energy is of enormous importance both for the security of the EU and for supporting Ukraine.
