Lviv region records unprecedented passenger flow: how to avoid queues at the border

The Lviv region is currently experiencing increased passenger flow at border crossing points. Just this summer, the number of crossings has already reached 3.5 million people and half a million vehicles.

Queues at the border in Lviv region

Due to the start of summer, the load on the border crossing points in Lviv region has increased by 40%. The longest queues occur on weekends — on Saturday and Sunday the queues are 16% longer than on weekdays.

'Since the beginning of August, more than 570,000 people and nearly 98,000 vehicles have crossed the border in Lviv region. To avoid long waits, we recommend checking the load of the crossing points on our resources and choosing the least busy options. We also advise crossing the border in the morning or evening hours when the queues are shortest,' — explained the spokesperson.

For entering Ukraine, it is better to choose the weekends, and for exiting — weekdays.

The most congested border crossing points at the moment are 'Krakivets' and 'Shehyni', with average congestion levels at 'Hrushev', 'Uhryniv', 'Rava-Ruska'. The least queues are observed at the checkpoints 'Smilnytsia' and 'Nyzhankovychi'.

Repairs at the 'Shehyni' crossing point

Repair works are ongoing at the 'Shehyni' border crossing point, which temporarily reduces the capacity for passenger and freight vehicles.

'To expedite vehicle movement, border guards are working in an enhanced mode: they have increased the number of crews during peak hours, set up additional automated workplaces, and conduct daily meetings with colleagues from Poland for faster border crossing,' — emphasized Burda.

It should be noted that in Odesa region, border guards detained a father and son who made hiding places in the hydraulic cylinders of trucks to secretly transport people across the border.

Previously, the procedure for crossing the Polish border and the necessity of undergoing checks was discussed.

The message reflects the passenger transport market and issues related to crossing the border at crossing points in the Lviv region. Recommendations for choosing less busy times and crossing points are noted, as well as some technical issues regarding repairs and improvements in the border crossing process.
