Pulling comrades from hell: remembering Valeriy Ishchuk

Every day at 9 a.m., Ukrainians honor the memory of all whose lives were taken by the Russo-Ukrainian war. Today, we remember Valeriy Ishchuk.

Ukrainian warrior Valeriy Ishchuk, call sign Puh, was killed on February 3, 2025. This was reported by the Lviv City Council.

Valeriy was born on December 11, 1984, in Lviv. He studied at Secondary Comprehensive School No. 100 in Lviv. During his studies, he showed an active stance and participated in school events.

From 2001 to 2006, he received his education at the Lviv Cooperative Vocational College of Economics and Law and at the Faculty of Economics of the National University of 'Lviv Polytechnic.'

He actively participated in the events during the Orange Revolution and later began his volunteer activities to support his friends at the front.

In the following years, he changed several professions and held positions in various financial institutions in Lviv. According to family and friends, 'he was a cheerful, extraordinarily bright person with a big sensitive heart and indescribable kindness. But above all, his limitless bravery, courage, and fearlessness distinguished him. They said about him: 'Irreplaceable people really exist!'' - wrote about Valeriy Ishchuk in the Lviv City Council.

Valeriy Ishchuk 'gave his all to his family, was an exceptionally responsible and loving husband and father to his sons and daughter.' He was 'a jack of all trades, he managed everything he took on.' In his free Time, he adored driving and listening to music.

After the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he unhesitatingly stood up to defend his homeland from the Russian invaders as part of the 125th separate territorial defense brigade of the regional command 'West' of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

He never abandoned his brothers in trouble, repeatedly pulled them 'from the very hell.' His loved ones say: 'He truly loved his job, 'burned for it' with all his heart, despite the great fatigue of daily work,' - added the Lviv City Council.

A prayer and farewell to the warrior took place on February 7 at the Holy Eucharist Church of the UGCC, followed by a funeral service at the Garrison Church of Saints Peter and Paul. The warrior was buried at the Lychakiv Cemetery.

Valeriy Ishchuk is survived by his wife, parents, sister, and children.

'Glavkom' joins in a minute of silence. We honor the memory of all Ukrainians who died in the struggle for the homeland. We remember those killed by Russian invaders, light candles of remembrance, and bow our heads in sorrow during a nationwide minute of silence, honoring the bright memory of the citizens of Ukraine who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the state: all military, civilians, and children, all who died in the struggle against the Russian occupiers and as a result of hostile forces attacking Ukrainian cities and villages.
