UN: Humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza due to Israel's blockade.
The humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is worsening
According to the UN, residents of the Gaza Strip are facing a severe shortage of food and other essential goods due to restricted access to humanitarian aid imposed by the blockade established by Israel. UNRWA representative Natalie Bukhly emphasized the critical nature of the situation, especially with the onset of cold weather.
She also noted that UNRWA could supply significant amounts of food and necessary goods from outside Gaza to meet the population's needs.
Our supplies could feed all residents for a long Time. But they are currently in Jordan and Egypt and cannot be delivered.
Bukhly stressed that regular truck deliveries to Gaza do not solve the people's problem. Israel, acting as an occupying state, violates international humanitarian law by not providing adequate living conditions for the residents of the Gaza Strip. At the same time, the Israeli authorities have suspended cooperation with UNRWA, accusing the agency of having ties with Hamas.
We are here only because international property has failed to find a political solution to this conflict.
The UNRWA representative urged the international community to prompt the Israeli government to ensure unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid. She also appealed for financial support of $200 million by March.
Security situation in the Gaza Strip
The USA presented a draft resolution to the UN Security Council, which includes the deployment of international forces in Gaza for the purpose of demilitarizing the territory, controlling arms, and ensuring humanitarian assistance.
The humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip is escalating due to limited access to aid. Israel is suspected of violating international law and obstructing humanitarian assistance. The UN calls on the international community to join efforts to resolve the conflict and provide the population of the Gaza Strip with the necessary resources for survival.
The situation in the Gaza Strip remains critical, as the growing humanitarian catastrophe requires urgent action from the international community. Unimpeded access to humanitarian aid is key to saving the lives of thousands of people suffering from the consequences of the conflict and blockade.
