Green Cards for Ukrainians: Key Changes in the September USCIS Visa Bulletin

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has released the latest visa bulletin, which discusses updates for applicants of various visa categories. This information is crucial for Ukrainians dreaming of obtaining a green card.

Updates in the Green Card Application Process

According to the bulletin, due to financial pressures, there may be delays in obtaining visas until the beginning of the new financial year in October. Therefore, it is important to adhere to all deadlines to avoid misunderstandings.

The September bulletin also specifies changes for applicants in employment-related categories, as well as in the family category F2A. The Diversity Visa (DV) program is also approaching the end of the application period for 2025, which will close in September.

''To participate in the DV lottery, anyone who has been part of this group really needs to submit their documents, undergo an interview, and obtain a visa by September 30; otherwise, after October 1, they will not be eligible to participate,'' emphasized Morgan Bailey, a partner at Mayer Brown.

It is also worth remembering that at the border with Romania, another document will be checked for vehicle owners, and at the border with Poland, not only passport control will be conducted, but they may also check the individual's financial capacity.

The USCIS visa bulletin announced new conditions for obtaining a green card and changes in visa lottery programs. It also mentioned increased checks at border crossings with certain countries, which may impact the entry procedure into the U.S. for Ukrainians. Adhering to all established rules and deadlines will help avoid troubles during the green card acquisition process or participation in the visa lottery.
