Opening of the National Military Memorial Cemetery

On Defender's Day of Ukraine, a solemn opening of the National Military Memorial Cemetery took place. This event was attended by President Volodymyr Zelensky, Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk, Minister of Defense Denys Shmyhal, and Minister for Veterans Affairs Nataliya Kalmykova. The remains of the first five unknown defenders were buried on the memorial grounds, and prayers from chaplains of various denominations were heard during the ceremony.

The event was dedicated to honoring the memory of the fallen defenders of Ukraine.

Meeting of Ukrainian and American representatives

Head of the President's Office Andriy Yermak and First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Serhiy Kyslytsya met with special envoy of Donald Trump Steve Witkoff. During the meeting, constant attacks by Russia on Ukrainian cities were discussed, a protest was voiced, and the issue of achieving peace in the region was raised. Ukraine opened the door for peaceful negotiations, but the Russian side is not easing the conditions for constructive dialogue.

It was emphasized that pressure must be exerted on Russia to facilitate the peace process and conduct important high-level negotiations taking into account international security.

Reaction of the international community to Russia's actions

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden summoned the Russian ambassador due to a series of attacks by Russian troops on Ukrainian cities. The Swedish side expressed protest over the damage done to civilian infrastructure and called for the protection of civilians in accordance with international humanitarian law.

The situation in Ukraine remains tense, and the international community is reacting to Russia's actions that violate global security principles.

Ukraine continues to honor the memory of its defenders by opening the memorial and adhering to the course of peaceful negotiations with the special envoy of the USA. Sweden supports Ukraine by condemning Russia's attacks and reminding of the importance of protecting civilians in accordance with international humanitarian law.
