Time limit for millions of Britons: old meters could leave homes without heating.
Facing lack of heating and hot water
According to The Sun: Thousands of households could be left without heating and hot water this winter. Approximately 156,000 British households are still using old Radio Teleswitching System (RTS) meters and have not switched to smart meters, reports Energy UK.
Households using these meters are strongly advised to contact their energy suppliers as this could impact their comfort during the cold season.
“We urge consumers not to delay and to check options for switching to new meters to avoid issues in the cold months,”noted Energy UK.
Switching to new smart meters will not only ensure a continuous supply of heat but will also allow households to manage their energy spending more effectively. In this context, it is important for consumers not to postpone making this crucial step, as winter months can be a real test for those who do not manage to transition to new technologies.
