Ukraine Braces for Severe Winter Weather on February 19: Freezing Rain, Snow, and -13°C Temperatures.
Weather Forecast for Ukraine on February 19, 2023
According to Novyny.live: Ukrainians should prepare for hazardous conditions on Sunday, February 19th, with heavy snowfall and severe ice accretion expected across the country. Nighttime temperatures will plummet to -13°C, while daytime highs will range from -3°C to -9°C. This combination of ice and snow creates a significant risk for travel, and residents are advised to exercise extreme caution on roads and walkways.
Strong wind gusts of 15-20 m/s will further complicate movement and travel. Significant snowfall is forecast specifically for the Kirovohrad, Cherkasy, Poltava, and Sumy regions. In the Zakarpattia region and Crimea, temperatures will be slightly higher, varying from -3°C to +2°C, with daytime highs between -2°C and -5°C. However, parts of Crimea may see temperatures rise to +4°C to +7°C.
Weather forecaster Natalia Didenko noted that 'the cyclone, which is still causing and will continue to cause snow and wet snow with accumulation and blizzards today, will leave our territory by tomorrow afternoon.'
This indicates that conditions are expected to improve shortly after the 19th. For now, however, the public must remain vigilant and prepared for difficult weather throughout Sunday. Such severe winter storms are not uncommon for the region during this time of year, but they require careful preparation.
Given the forecast, it is crucial for people to be especially careful on the roads, as the ice and strong winds can make travel extremely dangerous. Adhering to safety guidelines and avoiding non-essential trips is strongly recommended. While conditions are predicted to become more comfortable after the cyclone passes, staying alert and informed for February 19th is essential.
