5-8 countries: The EU revealed the secret French plan regarding Ukraine.
The French initiative regarding the peacekeeping mission in Ukraine will be the main topic of the EU summit
French President Emmanuel Macron plans to discuss the deployment of peacekeepers in Ukraine during the EU summit on December 18-19. This mission could be a possible option following a ceasefire and the achievement of peace between Ukraine and Russia, reports Radio Free Europe.
Regardless of the opinions of some high-ranking officials, discussing such a mission is necessary. This is related to Macron's visit to Poland and the need to prepare for possible negotiations with the future President of the United States, sources say.
France is actively seeking support from 5-8 European countries to create a coalition regarding the peacekeeping mission in Ukraine. Additionally, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte also plans to hold a separate meeting with the leaders of Ukraine, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, and Poland during the summit in Brussels on December 18 to discuss the situation in Ukraine.
At the meeting of the foreign ministers of seven European countries and the heads of EU diplomacy, which took place on December 12 in Berlin, the Berlin Declaration was adopted, confirming solidarity and support for Ukraine in its confrontation with Russian aggression.
