Mark Rutte, NATO Secretary General, urged allied countries to strengthen the Alliance's defense capabilities after the war in Ukraine. He advocated for a fourfold increase in air and missile defense. NATO also plans to acquire new equipment and weapons, including armored vehicles, tanks, and artillery, and to double its support capabilities. In particular, the NATO Secretary General called for investment in new combat aircraft, cybersecurity, and new technologies to ensure the security of allies. In the context of the Russian threat, he emphasized the importance of preparing for potential conflicts and asserted that NATO must become stronger and more lethal to ensure collective defense.
