In Russia, an RS-28 "Sarmat" nuclear intercontinental ballistic missile exploded. The incident occurred on September 20 or 21. This was reported by OSINT researchers who refer to Planet Labs satellite images.
Researchers claim that the missile likely exploded during refueling at the test site. Therefore, since the incident, the NATO strategic reconnaissance aircraft Cobra Ball has been avoiding this area.
«As understood, the tests of the RS-28 "Sarmat" were a complete failure. The missile detonated in the silo, leaving a large crater and destroying the test site. "Sarmat" is a liquid-fuel missile, so such an accident could happen during refueling. This may explain the lack of Cobra Ball activity on the day of the incident… Note the four fire trucks that responded to the forest fire», - said in the message.
Recall that Western countries recently allowed the possibility of Russia using nuclear weapons due to an overestimation of China's support for the Kremlin. However, now the West does not consider it likely that the Russian Federation will use even tactical nuclear weapons.
In 2022, the USA warned Russia that in the case of using nuclear weapons against Ukraine, Washington would enter the war. The possible strike on Russian military forces was also described in detail.
