El Prat Airport in Barcelona, the second largest in Spain, canceled or delayed dozens of flights. Train services were also suspended.
Earlier, at least 217 people died in similar floods in the Valencia region. Rescue teams actively searched for missing people in underground parking lots.

Residents of Valencia criticized King Philip VI of Spain, Queen Letizia, Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, and the regional government head Carlos Mas, for their reaction to the flood. They called them "murderers".
