New Shelters Being Built at Chișinău Airport

According to Tourism.d.ua — Туризм: Chișinău International Airport, Moldova's primary air hub, has become a vital transit point for Ukrainians seeking connecting flights. To address terminal overcrowding during the summer peak travel season, construction has begun on new canopies. The decision is driven by a significant increase in passenger traffic, with the airport now serving as a popular alternative route for Ukrainian travelers.

These simple covered structures are being installed near boarding gates, rather than full enclosed rooms. They are expected to become operational imminently and will feature lighting and air conditioning to ensure passenger comfort.

Ukrainian Railways Conducts Test Run

In April, Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia) launched a trial train service to Revaka station, located close to Chișinău Airport. The railway operator plans to establish a regular Kyiv–Chișinău route, which would improve access to the airport for passengers.

The canopy installation marks a key step in improving passenger services amid rising demand for air travel. The growing passenger numbers at Chișinău Airport reflect increased travel interest among Ukrainians, possibly linked to the post-pandemic recovery of tourism. Furthermore, the planned rail connection between Kyiv and Chișinău could enhance the airport's infrastructure and accessibility, potentially boosting the regional economy by attracting more tourists and business activity.
