How tires affect fuel consumption: expert tips for savings.
According to inkorr.com: Automobile tires greatly influence fuel consumption, although not all drivers realize this. Along with the engine and driving style, tires can significantly change the frequency of refueling.
A car service engineer in Kyiv noted that summer tires with an aggressive tread pattern increase rolling resistance. Similar effects can be caused by all-terrain and mud terrain tires. Winter tires made of a soft rubber compound and with numerous sipes also lead to higher fuel consumption.
"Wide or tall tires increase the load on the vehicle, so the tank empties faster," the expert noted.
Vehicles with large rims also face this problem. However, there are energy-efficient tires on the market that are specifically designed to reduce rolling resistance.
The importance of the right choice and maintenance of tires
Experts emphasize that the wrong choice of tires can significantly increase fuel costs. Specialist from Poltava, Dmytro, stated: "Even replacing a set of tires can affect fuel consumption."
In addition to tire selection, the condition of the suspension and braking system is also important. When replacing tires, it is essential to check the wheel alignment, as misalignment can lead to decreased range. Proper tire pressure is also critically important: insufficient pressure reduces movement efficiency and decreases fuel savings.
Therefore, conscious selection and proper care of automobile tires can significantly impact fuel consumption, which, in turn, allows car owners to save money.
