Increase in Fuel Excise Duties from 2026: How Much Will Gas Prices Rise.
According to inkorr.com: Starting January 1, 2026, Ukraine plans to increase fuel excise duties, leading to higher prices for gasoline and diesel. The excise on fuel will rise by 1.5 UAH, and gas prices may increase by up to 1 UAH per liter starting February 2026, according to fuel expert Dmytro Leushkin.
The expert explained that ahead of the excise increase, the fuel market is actively purchasing products in advance, so prices will remain at previous levels for a certain period. He also added that prices at some gas stations may rise due to increased maintenance costs and decreased demand due to the off-season.
Experts believe that the increase in fuel excise duties could significantly impact the standard of living of the population and increase transportation costs for businesses. These changes, in turn, may adversely affect the overall economic state of the country.
These measures are necessitated by the need to increase budget revenues; however, experts warn that they may be burdensome for consumers. According to forecasts, the rise in fuel prices may lead to an increase in the cost of goods and services, as transportation remains a key element of the economy.
