Excise tax increase in Ukraine in 2026
The Government of Ukraine plans to raise excise taxes in 2026, which will lead to an increase in prices for fuel, cigarettes, and soft drinks. As stated by MP Oleksiy Leonov, the excise tax on cigarettes will rise by 5%, while excise taxes on gasoline and diesel will increase by 10-17%. Additionally, a new tax on sugary drinks is planned to be introduced. Experts believe that these changes will not significantly affect the prices of fuel at gas stations; however, the final cost of fuel may vary depending on global oil prices, as well as logistics and exchange rate factors. It is also expected that prices for electric vehicles will rise from the beginning of 2026. Changes in excise taxation policy aim to fill the budget; however, the impact on consumer prices depends on many external factors. Therefore, Ukrainians should be prepared for new economic realities in the near future.Read also
