This impressive steak is sold for just £8.49 for 8 ounces, which is half the price of a similar product at Waitrose, which costs £16.

Here are some tantalizing details:

“Proper lush Britain.
“Raised on lush British grass and finished on a carefully-balanced grain diet, this Wagyu beef is the real deal.
“The marbling is next level, giving it that melt-in-your-mouth flavor that’s just unreal.
“The small-scale farms behind it treat their cattle like royalty, which is why every bite is proper juicy, proper rich and just plain banging.”

Warrendale Wagyu expert Natasha Bloom notes:

“Supplying top quality British Wagyu to Aldi since 2020, this family-run business collaborates with the best British farms across the UK producing luxury Wagyu.
“We make sure the cattle receive the best care and attention and are reared for longer.
“That intensifies the flavor and marbling, for a delicious melt-in-the-mouth, indulgently rich and buttery taste.”

The store suggests:

“Did you know letting the beef rest for five minutes before slicing ensures the juices are evenly distributed for tender steak every time.”

Wagyu has long been a best-seller at the German supermarket, where you can also find Wagyu burgers, Wagyu smoked meatballs, and Wagyu minced beef.

Wagyu is a general term for beef in Japan, and it is raised according to strict standards.

Kobe beef, which is even more expensive, is one of the types of Wagyu raised in Hyogo Prefecture in Japan.

One of the luxurious burgers can cost around £45 at a fancy restaurant.

Price war before Christmas

This year, cooks have been actively snapping up Wagyu beef in stores. Ahead of Christmas, Aldi launched a price war, announcing that it 'will not be beaten on price' on a range of its products.

The discount supermarket promises to match prices on equivalent products from its main competitors.

Products included in the price match include: perfect Christmas frozen turkey, whole salmon, a very large pork joint, New Zealand pork, packed gammon, and prime gammon.

Among the new items are a special log of raspberries and pistachios, lobster mac and cheese, and perfect Christmas musical packaging cookies.

To finish the Christmas dinner, they also have pigs in blankets, Yorkshire puddings, and Ultimate Wagyu fat chips.

Aldi has recently been named the cheapest supermarket according to the consumer site Which?, based on a basket of 71 items.
