ALDI closes all stores on Boxing Day: Details on the decision for the Ukrainian diaspora.
ALDI closes all of its stores for Christmas
According to The Sun: The supermarket chain ALDI has announced that it will close all stores for three days during the holidays. It is known that it will also close all 1,000 sales outlets on Gift Day.
GettyALDI will also be closed on Christmas and will reopen on Saturday, December 27. On New Year's Day, all stores will also be closed, reopening on Friday, January 2.
Supermarket hours will change in the days leading up to Christmas. The stores will stay open longer to allow customers to prepare for the holiday.
The company emphasized that the closure on Gift Day allows employees to spend this time with their families.
This tradition has been in place for several years. As Rebecca Healey, the communications director of ALDI UK, noted,
“Christmas is a special time, and we want all our employees to have the opportunity to relax and enjoy the time with their loved ones. For this reason, all ALDI stores will be closed this year on Gift Day. We know how hard our colleagues work to give our customers a wonderful Christmas, and this is a small way to thank them.”
Most retailers in the United Kingdom also close for Christmas. Some of them remain closed on the following day, while many others try to maximize sales on Gift Day.
Typically, stores and supermarkets in the United Kingdom return to regular operations the following week. However, some stores also close on New Year's Day.
So if you're planning your shopping before Christmas, be sure to pay attention to store hours.

Many retail chains support this practice as it allows employees to spend the holidays at home with their loved ones. This reflects a change in the business world, where one of the goals is to support employees' work-life balance.
In a world where shopping never stops, this decision by ALDI shows that social responsibility is becoming an important part of the corporate culture that meets not only the needs of customers but also those of employees.
