Cold Allergy: Doctor Describes Symptoms and Risk Groups.

Ukrainska Pravda reports that redness of body areas may be a sign of cold allergy. This condition can manifest on hands, legs, face, or the entire body.
"Cold urticaria is incurable, but it can be kept in remission. The patient should start taking antihistamines prescribed by the doctor in advance. You can also use protective cream on exposed areas of the body," said allergist Natalia Moskvina.
If the symptoms of cold allergy go away on their own after moving from cold to warmth, there is no need to worry. But if the symptoms persist for a long Time, recur year after year, or their nature threatens your health, you should see a doctor.
What symptoms can accompany cold allergy?
The most common symptoms of cold allergy are skin redness, the appearance of blisters and sores that itch, as well as limb swelling.
Natalia Moskvina explains that the symptoms may appear immediately after going outside or after some time. They are accompanied by severe itching and can lead to swelling.
Who is at risk?
Cold allergy is more common among children, as their skin is thinner and more prone to dryness. This allergy can also occur more frequently in people who wear too light clothing during frosts.
Irritative Dermatitis and Cold Panniculitis
Sometimes people confuse cold allergy with irritative dermatitis. In the first case, a rash appears on exposed areas of the skin; in the second case, redness and subdermal formations occur after exposure to cold. Doctor Natalia Moskvina notes that these are different conditions and require different treatments.
For the treatment of cold allergy, it is recommended to consult a doctor who will suggest the necessary treatment and explain additional measures such as the use of protective creams and moisturizers. You should avoid scratching your skin, stay away from the cold, and follow the specialist's recommendations.
