Hepatitis A in Kyiv: Expert Popenko Explained Why Water is at Risk.
Comment by the Head of the Consumers' Association on Hepatitis in Kyiv
Oleg Popenko, the head of the Consumers' Association of communal services, expressed his opinion on the situation with hepatitis A in Kyiv and drew attention to the quality of water. According to 'Hvylya', he shared this in his Telegram channel.
The chief technologist of Kyivvodokanal, Lyubov Nahorniuk, stated that the water in the capital's reservoir meets all safety standards and does not contain excess ammonia. No indicators of fecal pollution were detected, indicating the purity of the water.
However, Popenko responded to this, noting that he would not be very surprised if the water utility acknowledged the problem. He emphasized that there are hundreds of facilities in Kyiv connected to storm sewage and lacking purification systems, creating a risk of infectious diseases. He also pointed out that the scale of the problem is not recognized by the authorities due to its significant size.
As a result, not only hepatitis has been detected in Kyiv, but there is also an outbreak of other dangerous diseases. This situation requires quick and effective intervention from the authorities and relevant institutions.
