Quality Street Reduces the Amount of Candies in the Box: Which Flavor Has Become Rare.
Reduction of Quality Street Packaging
According to The Sun: The battle for the beloved Quality Street sweets has become even more intense due to the reduction in package sizes. This year, the tubes have decreased from 600 g to 550 g, and the number of candies in them has decreased from 63 to 59.
The famous purple packaging has shrunk in size Counting all the chocolates in one Quality Street tubeWe analyzed one tube of the popular Christmas treat and compared it to last year to find out which flavors are missing this year.
It turned out that there are two fewer 'Orange Cream' candies and one fewer 'Toffee Penny' and 'Purple Candy'.
The 'Purple' candy with milk chocolate and hazelnuts in caramel is known as one of the favorites. It can even be purchased separately.
Candy Distribution in Tubes
This year, the distribution of candies in the tubes looks as follows:
- Seven 'Caramel Swirls'.
- Six 'Toffee Fingers', 'Fudges', 'Strawberry Delight', and 'Orange Creams'.
- Five 'Orange Chocolates', 'Coconut Eclairs', 'Toffee Pennies', and 'Purples'.
- Four 'Milk Chocolates' and 'Green Triangles'.
The number of candies varies, but Nestle representatives note that the assortment is divided into three categories:
- Toffee and Fudge,
- Nuts, Caramels, and Chocolate,
- Fruits.
A Nestle representative said:
“Each year we introduce a new assortment of Quality Street, considering various factors including production costs, ingredients, and our consumers' preferences.”
Interestingly, the price of the tubes remains roughly the same: some retailers, including Tesco, offer them for £7, while others even reduce them to £4.
This is not the first time that Quality Street fans have noticed a reduction in tube sizes: the weight gradually decreased from 780 g in 2015 to 650 g in 2021.
Environmental Changes
This year, Quality Street also plans to make changes to its packaging. Chocolate candies will now be sold in paper tubes. Eco-friendly octagonal tubes will appear in selected Tesco stores starting in October.
This continues the shift in candy packaging to more eco-friendly options that began in October 2022, when plastic and foil wraps were replaced with waxed paper covering.
Additionally, the brand has launched a new secret flavor that will be included in special tubes and bags sold in John Lewis and Waitrose stores.
Thus, the reduction in Quality Street packaging is part of a broader trend aimed at adapting to consumer demands and environmental initiatives. The brand is currently actively working on improving its assortment while keeping the needs and preferences of its customers at the forefront.
