According to The Sun: This year, new American fast food establishments will appear in Great Britain, promising pleasant surprises for visitors.

In recent years, the British have already embraced chains like Wendy’s and Shake Shack.

The Sun has gathered information about new fast food establishments

Now, eight American fast food chains are on the list, planning aggressive expansion in Great Britain.

Moreover, some of them have received reviews indicating that their dishes are 'better than McDonald's, KFC, and Burger King.'

The Sun has prepared a list of fast foods that will open new locations, which you can familiarize yourself with below.

Denny’s

The famous American chain Denny’s is gearing up for expansion in Great Britain, planning to place its franchise for this territory.

The specialized consulting company FRP Corporate Finance is overseeing this process and looking for potential partners to develop a brand that includes almost 1,500 establishments worldwide.

As part of this process, FRP is also advertising the Denny’s restaurant in Swansea, which opened in 2017.

Denny’s, founded in 1953, operates in 15 countries, with over 1,300 establishments in North America alone.

The chain is known for its breakfast menu, especially fluffy pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausages.

Among popular dishes are also hearty burgers and milkshakes.

Chick-fil-A

Chick-fil-A opened the first of five restaurants in Great Britain in January.

Two establishments began operations at the start of the year in Northern Ireland - in Lisburn and Templepatrick, as the chain seeks to solidify its position in the British market.

Chick-fil-A, known for its chicken sandwiches and fries, has announced plans to open a restaurant in Leeds as part of a £74 million expansion.

The chain also has plans for locations in Liverpool and London.

The last attempt to scale in Britain ended in scandal.

A pop-up in Reading in 2019 closed after six months due to protests from LGBTQ+ activists over the comments made by family members of the company's founder.

The second temporary location in Aviemore, Scotland, also faced protests and closed in January 2020 after a petition signed by over 1,000 people.

At that time, the company emphasized that it had no 'social or political agenda,' but protests hindered its launch and led to its departure from the British market.

Despite this, the brand, founded in Atlanta in 1967, continues to expand in North America and is once again turning its attention to Europe.

Wingstop

Wingstop, which currently has 57 establishments in Great Britain, announced plans to open another 20 this year.

The expansion plans became known a month after Wingstop UK was acquired by an American private equity firm for over £400 million.

The American company Sixth Street has executed an agreement to purchase a controlling stake in the Wingstop UK franchise, planning for further development.

Wingstop UK opened at least 10 new locations in the first half of the year.

Among them are restaurants in Swansea, Newcastle, the Lakeside shopping center in Essex, Streatham in South London, and Cardigan Fields in Leeds.

The chain opened 18 new locations last year, including the largest location in Westfield Stratford in East London.

Carl’s Jr

Carl’s Jr opened its first establishment in Great Britain in Cardiff in April, designed for 50 seats.

The restaurant is operated by Boparan Restaurants, which plans to open a second location in Swansea on September 4.

Country manager David Moffat noted: “We are excited to introduce this iconic brand in Cardiff, our first location in Great Britain.'

“Carl’s Jr has a reputation for delivering high-quality food that stands out in the burger market.”

The chain has also gained significant popularity worldwide, with customers choosing it over other major chains.

On Reddit, one user called this fast food company 'better than most, including McDonald's and Burger King.'

Another added: “The Western Bacon Cheeseburger is unbeatable.”

Chuck E Cheese

The family entertainment and dining center Chuck E Cheese plans to open six establishments in England and Scotland.

Cities where openings are planned include Milton Keynes, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, and Bristol.

This iconic chain aims to capitalize on the growing demand for games in Great Britain, where customers can win tickets for prizes.

This very concept has made Chuck E Cheese a popular spot for children's birthday parties in the USA.

Children can play on various jungle gyms and arcade games, and the face of the brand is a huge mouse.

A representative of the company previously told The Sun: “We are actively expanding the Chuck E Cheese brand internationally, with Europe, including Great Britain, as a key target market.'

“Currently, there’s nothing specific to announce, but we are excited to see how our intellectual property resonates globally while continuing to assess interest from potential franchising partners worldwide.”

Dave’s Hot Chicken

Dave’s Hot Chicken has formed a partnership with Azzurri Group, the company behind ASK, Zizzi, and Boojum, to open 180 restaurants across Europe, including Portugal, Spain, and Germany.

Azzurri, which operates the franchise in the UK and Ireland, also intends to open 57 more Dave’s restaurants in Great Britain.

The first location in Great Britain on Shaftesbury Avenue in London has been a tremendous success, attracting over 1,000 customers a day since its opening in December.

The chain has already expanded to Manchester and Birmingham, with further plans.

Azzurri CEO Steve Holmes called Dave’s 'a brand that emerges once in a generation' and ready for global success.

Dave’s Hot Chicken is known in the USA for its large chicken sandwiches, nuggets, and pieces.

The chain also offers sides such as homemade coleslaw, creamy macaroni and cheese, and crispy fries.

The chicken in the chain is available in seven heat levels, from no spice to reaper, the latter requiring a waiver due to its extreme spiciness.

We had an exclusive opportunity to taste the Dave’s UK menu before opening its first store last year.

Velvet Taco

The Tex-Mex brand Velvet Taco will open its doors in London's Broadgate Circle in Liverpool in a few weeks.

The chain also confirmed plans to open other locations in Great Britain in the coming years.

The brand was launched in Dallas, Texas, in 2011 and now operates in approximately 50 restaurants in the USA.

Signature dishes include spicy chicken tikka tacos with tikka sauce, coriander butter, rice, and raita cream.

Another favorite is the 'fish and chips' taco, featuring battered fish, curry aioli, fried vinegar, and Napa slaw.

A special weekly dish (WTF) is also available, where a new dish is offered weekly, along with sides like a red sauce made from coconut cheese and premium guacamole.

Popeyes

Popeyes has already opened 33 locations in Great Britain last year and is one of the fastest-growing chicken brands in the fast food market.

This fast food chain, known for its Louisiana-style chicken burgers and nuggets, first appeared in Great Britain in 2021, opening a store in the Westfield shopping center in Stratford.

Now it plans to expand its presence in cities including Birmingham, Leeds, and Bristol, as well as open new locations in Manchester, Liverpool, London, and Scotland.

In addition to opening sit-down restaurants, the brand also plans to open drive-thrus and delivery kitchens specifically designed for takeout.

This year, a total of 45 establishments are planned to open in Great Britain.

The opening of new American fast food establishments in Ukraine indicates a growing interest in such food formats in the country. Many of these brands are already highly popular in North America and other regions, so their arrival in Great Britain could mark a new stage in the development of the fast food market. It also opens new opportunities for consumers, offering a variety of choices and new gastronomic experiences.
