Western analysts at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) believe that Russia may use the BRICS summit to strengthen its military actions in Ukraine. 36 world leaders, including UN Secretary-General António Guterres, Taliban Minister of Commerce and Industry Nuruddin Azizi, Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, have gathered for the summit in Kazan.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has already met with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. Analysts suggest that Russia is strengthening its relations with non-Western countries and may enter into agreements or create trade mechanisms that will help it maintain military actions in Ukraine and circumvent Western sanctions.
