Anderlecht Dismisses Head Coach Besnik Hasi Following Arrival of Ukrainian Forward Sikan.
Besnik Hasi Sacked by Anderlecht
According to Novyny.live: Belgian club Anderlecht has fired head coach Besnik Hasi. This decision comes shortly after the arrival of Ukrainian forward Danylo Sikan, who joined the squad on January 21, and is a direct result of the team's poor performance under Hasi's leadership.
Besnik Hasi had taken charge of Anderlecht for a second time in March 2025. During this second tenure, the team played 43 matches, achieving:
- 18 wins,
- 9 draws,
- 16 losses.
Anderlecht currently sits in fourth place in the Belgian league. The club has also reached the domestic cup semi-finals, where they will face Antwerp. However, they were eliminated from Europa League qualification and failed to reach the group stage of any European competition this season.
Assistant coach Edward Still will take over on an interim basis until a new manager is appointed. Hasi has a long history with the club, having served as an assistant from 2009 to 2014 and as head coach from 2014 to 2016 before his recent return. The coaching change signals the club's urgent desire to improve results and competitiveness both domestically and in Europe.
The dismissal of Besnik Hasi underscores the intense pressure top-level clubs face when results fall short of expectations.
The signing of a new player like Danylo Sikan suggests the club is also looking to refresh its squad in pursuit of success. How the team adapts to the sudden change in leadership will be crucial for their performance in the remainder of the league and cup campaigns. Anderlecht is one of Belgium's most successful clubs, making such managerial changes particularly significant for its large fanbase.
