A new challenge for Murray
Discussing his new hobby in a conversation with The Times at the luxurious Beaverbrook Golf Club, the three-time Grand Slam champion said:
“My kids think I'm a golfer. They ask: 'Dad, why do you play every day?'
“I actually didn't play for 12 years because I had back surgery in my mid-twenties, and it hurt during practice. Fortunately, after retiring, it got much better—I think tennis was the main issue—and I'm really enjoying it.”
“I believe it fills a certain void. It's something I can learn and improve on, and there are so many different aspects of the game to enhance, so I don't find it boring.”

Sports ambitions
Murray wants to compete in the Open Championship in 2027 and is serious about this goal, knowing that it will not be easy to reach the final.
The Scot has signed a sponsorship deal with Callaway and plans to participate in the Pro-Am Championship at the Alfred Dunhill Links in St. Andrews next month.
Before Wimbledon, Murray played a round with compatriot and two-time SW19 champion Carlos Alcaraz.
While there was lively social interaction between them, Murray compared Alcaraz to “a very average golfer,” but noted his tennis skills, likening his playing style to Ronaldinho.

Apart from developing his golf game, Murray has also tried his hand at coaching after retiring.
This year, the Wimbledon legend collaborated with former rival Novak Djokovic.
This collaboration initially led to Djokovic's victory over Alcaraz at the Australian Open, but after an unsuccessful clay season, the pair decided to go their separate ways.
Currently, Murray does not plan to return to coaching, but the opportunity to work with British players like Emma Raducanu or Jack Draper may arise in the future.
At this moment, however, he values the time spent with family the most, concluding:
“I have been away from home for so many years, traveling, putting my career first. I feel that I'm now trying to make up for that.”

Meanwhile, he enjoys the simple pleasures of life with family, closing one chapter and opening a new one in his life. Read also
