Electricity Consumption Surges Across Ukraine

According to Novyny.live: Ukraine is experiencing a sharp rise in electricity usage due to an unprecedented heatwave, placing heavy strain on the national power grid. To prevent blackouts, the government is taking urgent steps to stabilize the system. Among the measures, authorities have recommended rescheduling maintenance work at nuclear power plants. Emergency Measures to Stabilize the Energy System

Officials have also ordered the completion of repairs at thermal power plants, aiming to bring back at least 300 MW of generating capacity. The goal is to boost available power during peak consumption hours. Additionally, the plan includes deploying energy storage systems, which will provide another 300 MW of backup capacity to handle peak loads.

Conserving electricity between 5:00 PM and 10:00 PM is especially important for maintaining a reliable power supply. The government is also considering a 30% increase in the electricity transmission tariff, a move that could be reviewed by the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NEURC).
