Anthony Joshua prepares for a return to boxing
According to The Sun: Anthony Joshua plans to return to the ring in Nigeria and later considers seeking revenge against Tyson Fury for past encounters.
The boxer has not stepped into the ring since September 2024, when he lost to Daniel Dubois. After undergoing elbow surgery in the summer, he has already returned to training and met with promoter Eddie Hearn in Dubai to discuss his comeback.
Eddie Hearn told ESPN:
“I initially thought Joshua wouldn’t be boxing this year, but now he might.”
The promoter also added:
“When I saw him in Dubai, he was really back and very focused.”
Eddie noted that Joshua needs to return to the ring as soon as possible, as it has been 18 months since his last fight.
Possible opponents for Joshua
Among the potential opponents for Joshua are Martin Bakole, Tony Yoka, and former WBC champion Deontay Wilder. At the same time, Tyson Fury, who announced his return in 2026, keeps Joshua waiting.
Hearn also emphasized that Joshua wants to fight Fury, stating:
Getty“I have never heard him talk about anyone like he talks about Tyson Fury, not just about wanting to fight him, but that he can’t wait to knock him out.”
Hearn stressed that Joshua needs regular activity to maintain his form and hopes that his next fight will be truly meaningful.
Joshua's return to the ring is an important milestone not only for his career but for boxing as a whole. It could be an opportunity for him to relaunch his career after a challenging period and draw fans' attention to major fights in the future. The developments surrounding a potential fight with Tyson Fury could significantly impact the boxing scene.
