Research: most Britons will not tip if they can only pay by card.
Research showed: Britons mostly leave tips in cash
According to The Sun: According to a new study, residents of Great Britain prefer to leave tips in cash rather than by card. Most respondents admitted that they would not leave tips if they could only do so by card. The study, organized by the Post Office, analyzed tipping habits among 2000 Britons and revealed which businesses benefit the most from generous tips.
It is known that the decrease in cash usage affects how people decide to reward service staff. Respondents expressed significant concern that, by moving solely to card payments, they may refrain from leaving tips.
“We found that many Britons consider cash to be a more comfortable and familiar way to leave tips,” said a representative of the Post Office.
These findings highlight the importance of understanding consumer needs in a world where digital payments are becoming increasingly popular. With changing payment habits, business owners should consider forms of encouragement to keep the opportunity for generous tipping alive.
