Arctic cold changes Trump's plans: where the historic inauguration will now take place.
President-elect Donald Trump decided to change the location of the inauguration ceremony due to dangerous weather conditions in the capital. He announced this on his social media on Friday.
According to forecasts, very cold weather is expected during the inauguration, with a maximum temperature of around 20 degrees Fahrenheit (around -6°C) and a minimum temperature of -6 degrees Fahrenheit (around -14°C), as well as strong winds.
The last time the inauguration ceremony took place indoors was during Ronald Reagan's second inauguration when the parade was also canceled.
Trump explained his decision with concerns for the safety of event participants. 'I want to avoid injuries and harm to people's health. These weather conditions are dangerous for tens of thousands of law enforcement officials, first responders, police dogs, and even horses, as well as hundreds of thousands of supporters,' he noted.
Additionally, Trump announced that his supporters would be able to watch the ceremony from Capital One Arena in downtown Washington, where he will join the audience after taking the oath.
