Ukrainian athlete Yaroslava Mahuchikh finished eighth in the voting for the best athlete of 2024 in Europe.
Thus, the list of top 10 athletes includes:
- Leon Marchand (France, swimming) - 155 points
- Tadej Pogačar (Slovenia, cycling) - 148
- Armand Duplantis (Sweden, pole vault) - 142
- Jannik Sinner (Italy, tennis) - 113.5
- Max Verstappen (Netherlands, Formula 1) - 71
- Rodrygo (Spain, football) - 53
- Marco Odermatt (Switzerland, alpine skiing) - 49
Yaroslava Mahuchikh (Ukraine, high jump) - 43
- Remco Evenepoel (Belgium, cycling) - 36
- Nicola Jokic (Serbia, basketball) - 35
The winner is chosen by voting representatives of 27 international sports agencies. Last year, the winner was Novak Djokovic, the Serbian tennis player.
Note that Yaroslava Mahuchikh was officially recognized as the best athlete in Europe for 2024. She received this award at the Golden Tracks ceremony held in Skopje, North Macedonia.
She was also named the best athlete in non-running disciplines by World Athletics.
Earlier, Yaroslava Mahuchikh, the Ukrainian athlete and Olympic champion, shared her plans for the Olympic Games. She plans to participate in two more Olympics, including Australia 2032, when she will be 31, as she can continue jumping until the age of 35.
