Denis Suarez's move to Alaves
According to The Sun: Denis Suarez signed a contract with Alaves after parting ways with Villarreal.
The 31-year-old former Spanish international had an unsuccessful loan at Arsenal in 2019, where he played only six matches.
ReutersAfter returning from Arsenal, he was sold from Barcelona to Celta for approximately £13.8 million. Suarez spent four years there before returning to Catalonia on loan at Espanyol. In 2023, he signed with Villarreal, where he managed to play 75 matches.
However, after the first two games of this season without playing time, his contract with Villarreal was terminated. Subsequently, Suarez signed a deal with Deportivo Alaves on a free transfer just a few hours later.
The former Arsenal player signed a two-year contract with the La Liga club.
Health issues during the loan
After the unsuccessful loan at Arsenal, Suarez revealed that he faced serious health issues, particularly with his pelvis. He noted that he sustained an injury in just his second game against BATE in the Champions League.
“At the end of the match, I thought I had torn my muscles, and the scan revealed a bone edema in my pelvis. I thought I tore something; it hurt a lot. And since then, I continued to train with medication and tried to cope, but I didn't feel well, and [Unai] Emery didn't think I was in good shape either.
I didn't feel comfortable. I think I wasn't even at 50 percent.
After 15 days at Arsenal, I wasn't okay. From the 16th day, I wasn't even at 50 percent.”
Denis Suarez has been struggling to find his game after health issues that affected his career in England. Now he has the opportunity to continue his career at Alaves, where he hopes for a fresh start. This move could be an important milestone in his football life, as Alaves' coaching staff may be able to unlock his potential at this new stage.
