Aston Villa struggles at the start of the season: should we still trust Watkins and Rodgers in Dream Team.
According to The Sun: DREAM TEAM managers are still waiting for Aston Villa to showcase their potential this season.
Unai Emery's team started with a 0-0 draw against Newcastle and then suffered defeats to Brentford and Crystal Palace.
PAOnly one point earned in August leaves the 'Villans' in 19th place in the EPL table.
Also concerning is the fact that Aston Villa is the only team in the elite division that has yet to score any goals in the 2025/26 season.
Players like Ollie Watkins (£5.2m) and Morgan Rogers (£5.2m) are currently facing serious difficulties in the Dream Team world.
Both Englishmen scored over 300 points last season, but now they have only 8 points each after three rounds.
Youri Tielemans (£4.7m), also one of last year's top players, is performing slightly better — he has 9 points.
PADream Team managers are already starting to look for replacements for the underperforming Villa players, and this is completely understandable.
Those who decided to keep Watkins and Rogers on their teams find themselves in a difficult situation ahead of the 4th round.
Current performance metrics of 'Aston Villa'
The statistical center shows a bleak performance picture for Villa, but their match schedule is encouraging.
Emery's team is in a group of eight teams playing six matches over the next three rounds.
With more opportunities to earn points before the international break in early October, their opponents look quite acceptable on paper.
ASTON VILLA'S MATCHES UNTIL THE OCTOBER INTERNATIONAL BREAK
- Everton (away)
- Brentford (away)
- Sunderland (away)
- Bologna (home)
- Fulham (home)
- Feyenoord (away)
- Burnley (home)
In light of all circumstances, this is quite an attractive schedule.

The trip to Hill Dickinson Stadium this Saturday will be a serious test, as Jack Grealish (£3.4m), Iliman Ndiaye (£3.9m), and Kieran Dewsbury-Hall (£3m) are showing good form for Everton. But Villa’s attacking players can hope for a positive outcome.
David Moyes' team last season was known for its solid defense, but only Burnley allowed more shots among EPL teams in August.
Moreover, only the 'Claret' and 'Wolverhampton' allowed opponents more xG than Everton this season.
Emery may rotate the squad ahead of the match against Brentford in the Carabao Cup, but if he can get the team in shape, the next four rounds could be very beneficial.
The Europa League yielded good results last season, despite the weaknesses shown by 'Manchester United' and 'Tottenham' — even with an incomplete squad, 'Villa' could earn plenty of points.
Watkins and his partners are exhausting their credit, but there are enough grounds to believe that they deserve a bit more time.
However, a couple of disappointing performances in the 4th round could be the last straw even for the most patient managers.
