Yastremska loses to Rybakina and leaves the Australian Open 2025.
Ukrainian tennis player Dayana Yastremska (WTA 33) has ended her participation in the Australian Open 2025.
In the third round, the Ukrainian lost to Elena Rybakina (Kazakhstan, WTA 7) in 1 hour and 25 minutes, in two sets.

In the second set, the Ukrainian managed to take a 2:0 lead, but Rybakina quickly responded in kind. After that, Yastremska lost her serve.
This was the first meeting between the competitors.
Last year, Yastremska reached the semifinals of the Australian Open, which is her best result in Grand Slam tournaments.
Rybakina will play in the 1/8 finals of the Australian tournament against the winner of the match Madison Keys (USA, WTA 14) – Danielle Collins (USA, WTA 11).
After Yastremska's exit, Ukraine will be represented only by Elina Svitolina in the singles draw on the Melbourne courts. She will play against Jasmine Paolini on January 18. The day before, Marta Kostyuk lost in the third round to Paula Badosa.
