Finnair flight cancellations due to pilots' strike

The Finnish airline Finnair is canceling nearly 300 flights in December due to a protest action by the Finnish Pilots' Union (SLL). This was reported by Yle.

As part of the strike, pilots will not be flying on December 9 and 13.

The consequences of the strike will affect about 33 thousand Finnair customers, according to the company.

We are very sorry that the union went on a protest instead of negotiations, which will affect the plans of thousands of our customers during the Christmas season
- commented on the situation Finnair's CEO Jaakko Schildt.

He stated that the company is doing everything possible to assist customers by offering them alternative flights where possible.

Restarting Ukraine's air connections

We remind you that Kyiv is in negotiations with the European aviation authority and airlines about restoring part of the air connections in Ukraine. However, currently, there are not enough air defense systems to restore air connections, said Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine - Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kubela.

Ukraine presented a roadmap in Warsaw for opening the airspace under martial law.

Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi hopes that in 2024 the city will restore air connections with other countries. He mentioned that a few months ago, he met with colleagues from Israel responsible for security to discuss the possibility of reopening Lviv and Boryspil airports.

Latvian Airlines airBaltic also plans to quickly resume flights from Kyiv, Odesa, and Lviv. The only requirement is flight safety, as stated by the company after a meeting with the government and the management of Boryspil airport.
