Electric Vehicles Close the Gap on Gasoline Cars in Ukraine's 2025 Auto Market.
Ukraine's 2025 Auto Market Sees Electric Vehicles Gaining Ground
According to Novyny.live: Buyer preferences in Ukraine's automotive market shifted significantly in 2025, marked by a notable rise in the popularity of electric and hybrid vehicles. While gasoline cars retained a 31.6% share of new car sales, this figure indicates a clear decline in interest for traditional powertrains. In contrast, electric vehicles achieved a significant milestone, capturing 28.6% of the new car market. Hybrid cars also posted strong results, securing a 22.1% market share.
The trend toward electrification was even more pronounced in the used car segment. Used electric vehicles gained substantial popularity, reaching a 30.3% share, which signals consumers' growing preference for more environmentally friendly options. However, the share of diesel cars, which was 17.5% for new vehicles, fell in the used segment to 19.4%. Used gasoline cars remained the most popular choice overall, holding a dominant 42.3% share. The internal resale market for gasoline cars was particularly robust, accounting for 43.2% of transactions.
Market Trends and Shifts
Despite the rising share of electric and hybrid cars, the market still exhibits conservative tendencies, as gasoline-powered vehicles continue to represent a substantial segment. These changes reflect both evolving consumer tastes and broader trends within Ukraine's automotive industry, which is navigating a challenging economic landscape.
The growing popularity of electric and hybrid vehicles in Ukraine points to a shift in consumer priorities toward cleaner technologies. This is likely driven not only by environmental awareness but also by legislative incentives encouraging electric vehicle adoption. Simultaneously, the enduring significant market share for traditional gasoline cars confirms their continued relevance for many consumers. These evolving patterns are expected to influence the future development of electric vehicle infrastructure and the strategies of automakers operating in the Ukrainian market.
